“O projeto iluminista fundado na crença da razão enquanto fator de progresso humano fracassou. O século XX gerou barbáries como o holocausto e as guerras “em nome de Deus” permanecem atuais [...] As potências atuais resgatam o grande Leviatã e, na “guerra de todos contra todos”, todos somos suspeitos potenciais. Neste contexto, os movimentos de migrações humanas, os inúmeros campos de refugiados espalhados pelo mundo, potencializam uma realidade explosiva: a crise econômica capitalista, a concorrência pelo emprego, o aumento da desigualdade social, a convivência entre diferentes culturas etc. Estes elementos geram um campo minado no qual as atitudes, os preconceitos e intolerância ganham audiência e teorias legitimadoras.”

 

"The Enlightenment project founded on the belief of reason as factor of human progress has failed. The 20th century barbarities such as the holocaust and wars "in the name of God" remain current. [...] The current powers rescue the great Leviathan and, in the "war of all against all", we are all potential suspects. In this context, the human migration movements, the several refugee camps spread throughout the world, potentialize an explosive reality: the capitalist economic crisis, the competition for a job, the increase of social inequality, the coexistence between different cultures etc. These elements generate a minefield in which the attitudes, prejudice and intolerance gain audience and legitimating theories."
